Emalkay - Explicit

I dunno what it is about the classics that have me vibing so hard this week... But this tune seriously gets me every time. I've always known Emalkay for his innovative, and massively different style, and this tune perfectly embodies that difference. The tones are sick, the synth line is massive, the bass is phat... Killer tune. Plus, the vocal sample? Dope.

Flux Pavillion - Excuse Me

Get your skank shoes on. Flux has created another banger. The initial reggae vibes, along with the implementation of Flux's massive tone style, make this song both ORIGINAL, and impressive. This tune deffo had my head boppin through the headphones. Can't wait to hear more from this guy.

People Watching, Social Networks, etc.

So today, I noticed a few things about the world, that had of course entered my mind previous, but I had failed to express my knowledge of. So, I'm in class today, which is practically filled with adult's who had tried school prior, and had decided to come back and try once more. Now, I have NO PROBLEM with anyone returning to pursue their education.. As a matter of fact I fully support anyone without a degree, to return to school and achieve it. Now that being said, there is a woman in my class, who will remain unnamed as I haven't had the lovely pleasure of acquiring it. Well, mid lecture, the woman decided to strike up a conversation with the person sitting next to her, who sits directly behind me. Normally, this issue is something I take with a grain of salt, ignore it, and move on. However I'm not positive if it was the rain or what, but I took an extreme level of annoyance with this woman as she begins to describe last night's Ke$ha show as "Faaaaabulous", a word she used at every opportunity. She then begins to go into how she stays up till five in the morning, every morning, because she's always out drinking at the bar, or at a club, etc. Now this is what sparks my interest. Has this woman no responsibility at all? No sense of judgement? No musical taste?

From that moment on I had an epiphany, and I know the majority of people reading have had this at one point or another... Be yourself. Simply put. If you are a woman, obviously going BACK to school (as this woman was nearing her thirties), at some point you have to realize that there are things more important than getting canned every night and going to Ke$ha concerts (and in regards to the latter, MANY more). This all of course, is in assumption that she wasn't lying, which is very possible, but the point remains the same. You're near 30 years old and you have to lie to make yourself acceptable to someone more youthful than yourself? Seems a tad backwards doesn't it?

Granted it isn't my place to judge, but as an American I'm allowed to have an opinion, and I stand by that right.

On the topic of social networks, I have to say, I enjoy them. Just from an artist-to-fanbase standpoint. I love the fact that listeners of your music are just a click away, and are always willing to provide with comments, and feedback. I love it. So to anyone who has ever told me,"I enjoy your music...", "I despise your music...", or anything of that sort, I thank you. Thank you for taking the time to voice your opinion!

Big up massive,

PS: Chick failed her exam. I got a 95.

Sub Scape - Nothing's Wrong

Old tune. But PHENOMINAL. I love this tune in every aspect. The production value, brilliant. Bassline, brilliant. Vocal sample? Bloody Brilliant! I seriously could listen to this all day... deffo a vibe out and chill tune. No recollection where I first heard this tune, but I know wherever it was, I was dancin. Big up Sub Scape. Big up Dub Police for finding this guy.

Doctor P - Sick Tonight Remix

Heard this at my local barber's over the radio... One of the sickest tunes I've heard in a long while. Definitely one of my favourites. Doctor P absolutely killed this song. You expect its going one way and he COMPLETELY switches gears and chops the beat at about 1/3 original tempo. Naaaaasty. Enjoy this one. I absolutely adore it, in the manliest way possible.

Datsik - Firepower (Mykies McFilthy Remix)

It's really rare that I like a remix more that the original... But the initial drop is what gets me. Not to mention it actually has a synth section where Datsik lacks in his version. Once again a relatively unknown tune, so big up to you Mykie! We heard you in Houston... haha

Wobble Bass Ruining Dubstep? Hardly...

Obviously I've been extremely active in my blogging today, but I've discovered something I can't pass up. So allegedly, all these forums and dub blogs etc. are claiming that wobble bass is ruining dubstep, as it ruined DnB. If you ask me, completely false. I personally enjoy the wobble aspect to MODERN dubstep, and how different it is to any other genre, with the exception of DnB. As everyone knows, dub evolved from UK Garage, Jungle, DnB, Reggae, HipHop, you name it. Modern dubstep has stemmed from all these genres in one way or another. Because of this, you're going to have a massive difference in sounds. There is still dub out there without wobble bass, as everyone knows and understands, including many of it's Jungle roots, just with a heavy sub bass. I don't fully understand how an implementation of a new sound, or new style, can ruin a genre. It isn't as if Soulja Boy decided to start producing...

Simply put, if you believe that wobble bass is ruining dubstep, you're wrong. In all actuality, it is HELPING BRING fans to dubstep. I couldn't even tell you how many people I know here in the states who love dubstep simply because of that aspect. And to those who don't want dubstep to go commercial, you're also wrong. It's only a matter of time. And once dub becomes commercial, your favourite dub artists can quit their day jobs and actually focus on TUNES PRIMARILY for once, furthering dub evolution. Which I personally don't stand against.

Well, that's all. Spoke my peace.

Big up readers,

PS: Saw this on one of the forums in question, and yes, it's meant sarcastically.

Dayn - Stomp

This is definitely for the grime lovers. I actually heard this tune when Diesel dropped it on a Chronos Records live webcast. The song itself is still relatively unknown, but that surely doesn't take away from the impressive nature of this tune. Grime, bass, noise. Listen, and watch your face hit the floor. This one is sure to become a staple tune for Grime DJ's across the land. Big up.

Ya'll Know Me - D.A.M.

Oh PS: Photoshop fun!

Magnetic Man - I Need Air

So this is the new tune by the dubstep supergroup Magnetic Man. The song OFFICIALLY dropped as of yesterday. The group consists of Skream, Benga, and Artwork. Song itself is extremely poppy-jump up dub. Very very commercial, which contrary to popular belief isn't always bad. I dug the vibes in this one. Extremely catchy, and the sub bass is pretty phat. Definitely a club song here. But I'm curious to see if anyone else caught this: The synth piece thats comes in near the end... Definitely recognize that sequence from Skream's soundcloud tune entitled "MAD" which was released ages ago. Just a thought. Well all in all I enjoyed it. Hope you did the same.

Finally got me a blog... Lets see who finds my thoughts, or music, interesting

SO, bloggers, this is my first blog post ever, without of course including the sporadic, and random posts you may or may not have read on MySpace, or Facebook. HOWEVER, I plan on using this to inform everyone I know of new tunes, new goings on, new whatever, rather than the non-reliable ranting route I had taken prior. That's why it's called a blog I guess. Well, I figured as this is my first blog post, I'll take the liberty to inform everyone reading who I am, what I'm about, my alcoholic beverage preferences etc. I'm Jacob Fleming, for starters. I'm a student of journalism (or communications... haven't quite decided yet), a dub-step producer for the collaborative group D.A.M., intellectual, music addict, football (soccer) fan, tad strange, internet junkie, over-analytical youth of Houston, Texas. I figure that sums me up quite well, pleased to meet you.

But down to what I actually plan on doing with this blog: Tunes. Yes, tunes. Essentially, all I do throughout my day, with the exception of attend class, do homework, and degrade women, is listen to, and find, tunes. You may envy my life, and I do not blame you. But once again, as this is my first blog post, I find I must include a killer tune to start my little blog off with... So I decided on this one.

I have been absolutely OBSESSED with this tune lately. Flux Pavillion is a dub producer from Northampton out in the UK. His synth sections are simply gorgeous in my opinion. He's allegedly dropping an EP this year at some point... You know who'll be in like to get it.

Well big up massive for readin'! We'll see how this blog thing goes. But as for first posts, I believe that was up to par yeah? Well, continue to watch, read, listen etc.
